Whoa! I can’t believe it. Burnell has my eyes staring back at him from the top of his Firefox browser window. How’d he do that? It’s something called Personas. They are easy-to-install, easy-to-use themes that change the look of your Firefox web browser. There are thousands of Personas to choose from, and you can create and submit custom ones. Turns out that’s what Burnell did.
Something wonderful is about to happen. The Yamaha Music School of Boston will be distributing copies of my book, Nora The Piano Cat’s Guide to Becoming a Good Musician, to four and five-year-old students. I’m very excited about hearing from the students once they receive the books, and Yamaha has said there will even be photos of some of the children that I will be able to share with you all. I’ll definitely keep you posted.
The book (pictured to the right) features a photograph of yours truly on the cover by artist/photographer Burnell Yow!. Burnell is also one of my personal assistants. It is, indeed, very helpful to surround oneself with talented folks, don’t you think?
••••••••••••••••••••••••• Nora The Piano Cat’s Guide to Becoming a Good Musician is available from Amazon.com.
Well, of course you recognize me at the piano. But who, you may ask, are those two young people smiling for the camera? That’s Lauren & Toby. They’re a young couple from Pittsburgh, both artists, who stopped by to meet me and to drop off new artwork for Burnell and Betsy. One of the pieces is that clock on the corner of the piano. It was made by Toby. Finally, B&B bought a piece of art that I can relate to; it has a dead bird on it! (Click the thumbnail to view larger image.) How cool is that? The other piece is a robot straddling a rocket. It’s all made from found objects. It’s a much bigger piece and Burnell hasn’t take a photo yet. I’m sure he’ll post it on his blog very soon.
This is me and Burnell in my very first webcam photo. How in the world I managed to avoid this all these years, I haven’t a clue. Could be that I’m mostly sleeping on Betsy’s computer chair. Today I just happened to be on Burnell’s, and when he picked me up to sit down, I just happened to ask about that funny-looking thing on top of his computer monitor. Next thing I know, he’s telling me to say cheese. Now, saying cheese and eating cheese are two very different things. But I did as he asked (his demands are few), and the next thing I knew this image popped up on the screen. And I thought that "piano" was the only magic word.
Do you have an iPhone or iPod Touch device? Are you a fan of yours truly, Nora The Piano Cat?
If you answered yes to both of those questions, then you may want to hurry on over to Apple’s iTunes website and download the absolutely FREE “Nora’s Mews” app.
What’s it do, you may ask? Well, it provides a direct link to my blog (also titled Nora’s Mews), as well as to my YouTube videos and my Tweets (Twitter updates) all from your iPhone or iPod Touch device.
Now you can keep up with all the latest on all things Nora from the comfort and convenience of your handheld. I feel so 21st century!
The Dutch version of National Geographic Junior magazine for February of 2010 just ran a photo of me with a bit of text. Since I don’t speak the language (nor do either of my, otherwise quite talented, personal assistants), I’m putting the call out to any of my Dutch fans for a translation, or even just a brief synopsis.
This is Rennie and me hanging out on our new cat tree. It’s called the "Lotus Cat Tower," and it’s really cool. B&B have been wanting to get us a cat tree for some time, but most of the ones they saw offended their aesthetic sense. Mine, too. Then they discovered the "Lotus Cat Tower." It looks beautiful, like a sculpture. And in a house filled with art, that’s important.
You’ll notice that I’m allowing Rennie the higher perch at the moment. That should dispel the rumor that I’m a total diva.
I’m hoping that Burnell takes more photos to show you the whole thing. The base has a great hide-away place with a comfy cushion. But I think they want to clear away some of the clutter in the corner before they post a full-length photo. Humans can be so vain.
In addition to the seven Nora The Piano Cat™ videos that catapulted her to fame on the internet and in the world-wide media, this 2010 version of the DVD also features CATcerto, created by Lithuanian composer and conductor, Mindaugas Piecaitis, and was inspired by Nora’s playing. Nora performs as a guest soloist with the Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra via a large video screen placed behind the performers. Mr. Piecaitis conducts.
This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com’s standard return policy will apply.
I am really honored to be receiving the Westchester Cat Shows ‘Cat of the Year’ award today, Saturday, November 21st. I hear it’s a pretty big deal, and I will be getting the very first ‘Scarlett Ribbon’ which was designed to honor the first ever Cat of the Year, Scarlett who saved her 5 kittens from a burning building. Wow, I may be talented, but Scarlett, she was a hero. There’s a book about her, too. I think I’ll have to read that one.
My personal assistant, Betsy, is attending the show (in White Plains, NY) to accept the award on my behalf. I may not be there in person, but I will be appearing via a live video feed from my very own piano. It’s all part of something called “Shelter Aid” to raise money for shelters and rescue groups. As you know, I was rescued from the street and adopted from a shelter by Betsy and Burnell.

She’s also an animal behavior consultant. Betsy and Burnell met her at this years ASPCA Awards luncheon in New York City.
Perhaps you saw the YouTube video of Arden chatting with Betsy at that event.
Well, she also interviewed her at home and that is now up and available to listen to or to download at PetLifeRadio. Listen carefully and you may hear me playing a few notes in the background.
Arden is also editor of Catnip magazine, which is published monthly in affiliation with Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and circulated nationally.
